3 abstract forms. Spray paint and oil on canvas.

I’m trying out a few ideas for future projects and this was a test to see if I could produce these 3 sculptural forms using spray paint as a base. This is an experiment with monochrome but i will try this with a few colour variations. Inspired by ancient artifacts and mystery, I may introduce a more figurative element to suggest ancient masks or symbols.

It's always good to experiment with different ways to make marks and introduce variety to the way you create texture and lines. @dantirels is that tissue paper? Like the kind used in gift bags?
I love this and I would definitely try it but nowhere that I've found have you put which paint you're using . I've seen oil paint and ink mentioned in the comments I thought the black might be acrylic and the color watercolor but it doesn't bleed and blend like wet watercolors so I'm assuming it's diluted something.......the recycled stuff well that I've done my whole life but what kind of paint do I need please 🥺
The black paint is oil applied very thinly to the plastic transfer sheet. The colour wash can be acrylic with water, water colour paint or ink. The oil acts as a resit but you can achieve interesting blurred lines and texture effects. Hope this helps.

Hi Dan, thank you for this lovely demonstration. I was wondering how you achieved the circular marks as that wasn't shown. Either you have an exceptional ability to draw a perfect half circle or did you hold the tool steady and rotate the page? I'm considering the old pin in the middle with a string attached but coverage from the center outward instead of a spiral inwards. Any tips you could share?
No, just turn the cardboard, I like to experiment with different ways of making marks using a variety of techniques. Hope this video shows a few ideas to try. Glad you enjoyed it.
